The FALSE PROPHET
There were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of Truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgement now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.
Remember the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they that separate themselves, having not the Spirit.
Such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for teachers himself is transformed into an angel of light.
The prophecy of Jude says that "they claim to have the Holy Ghost but continue to walk according to their ungodly lusts." It is impossible to live by the lusts of the flesh and be filled with the Holy Ghost. There is a hybrid Christian, half worldly and half-godly. Preachers by the thousands circumvent repentance and true salvation as Jesus said: "they compass sea and land to make one more proselyte (i.e. church member), and when he is made, ye make him twofold more a child of Hell than yourselves." These people talk about forgiveness but reject true repentance. The true Word of God produces a new person with a new nature (born again) in the full image and stature of Jesus Christ, a blood-washed, sin-free believer.
People do not want to hear doctrine that is different from traditional teaching or what they might have been teaching others because then they may have to admit that they were wrong, but pride prevents this.
"Many shall come in My Name, saying, I am Christ (a Christian); and shall deceive many." The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the Truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
What is the description of a false prophet? They are of the world; therefore they speak of worldly things and the world hears them but the wise Christian will not and will make sure that what is heard conforms to Scripture and not just the traditional teachings of men. Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
In the midst of these abominations and perversions there will be precious few strong voices of true men of God who will cry out, nationally, against these things and stand up against them.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
The Lord of Hosts says, "Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you; they make you vain (foolish): they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in My Name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; which think to cause people to forget My Name by their dreams (visions), which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Ba'al."
Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them (the visions), and cause My people to err by their lies, and by their lightness (frivolity); yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: Therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord. For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an Antichrist.
Whosoever transgresses and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, has not God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed: for he that bids him Godspeed is partaker of his deeds.
